4 COVID-19-Related Deaths, 263 cases reported

Nov. 10, 2020. Reno/Sparks, NV – The Regional Information Center is reporting four COVID-19-related deaths in Washoe County: All males, one in 70s, two in 80s and one in 90s. All but one had an underlying health condition.
There have been 212 COVID-19-related deaths in Washoe County. A COVID-19-related death is determined by a physician or medical examiner to be COVID-19-related as the main cause of death, underlying cause of death or contributing cause of death.
Additionally, we’re reporting 265 recoveries and 263 new COVID-19 cases in Washoe County. It had been seven days since active cases reported went down.
- Total COVID-19 cases in Washoe County: 16,471 (+263 from 11/9)
- Deaths: 212 (+4)
- Recovered: 12,415 (+265)
- Active cases: 3,844 (-6)
Update on hospitalized data
The decision was made today to remove “Currently Hospitalized” and “Released from Hospital” from the COVID-19 Dashboard and the daily update to avoid confusion on hospitalizations. The “Currently Hospitalized” and “Released from Hospital” numbers were information specifically regarding Washoe County residents and provided to the Washoe County Health District by area hospitals. The data was different from Nevada Hospital Association data, which captures all persons no matter what county they reside.
The most important aspect of hospital data is to understand hospital bed/ventilator capacity and availability during this pandemic. Those numbers are, and will continue to be, categorized by the Nevada Hospital Association below, or can be found on their website.
COVID-19 tests performed in Washoe County
- Total number of COVID-19 tests performed in Washoe County as of November 10: 196,688 (+1,584 since 11/9)
Note: These figures are provided by the State of Nevada and can be found on the State Dashboard. COVID-19 tests may include non-Washoe County residents who were tested in Washoe County.
Hospital bed and ventilator information
According to the Nevada Hospital Association, in Washoe County as of November 10:
- 80 percent staffed hospital beds are occupied (+2% since 11/9)
- 68 percent of all licensed hospital beds are occupied (+2%)
- 55 percent of all Intensive Care Unit beds are occupied (-3%)
- 24 percent of all ventilators are in use (+2%)
NOTE: Numbers are for all hospital patients in Washoe County and not just COVID-19 patients.
Washoe County test site closed for Veterans Day; testing available this Saturday
The Washoe County COVID-19 Test Site will be closed in observance of Veterans Day. Residents who are symptomatic, or a close contact to a confirmed positive case, can still sign up for testing online 24/7 here (En español).
COVID-19 testing will be available this Saturday to accommodate the high demand for testing.
