Reno/Sparks, NV – The Regional Information Center is reporting two additional COVID-19-related deaths in Washoe County: A female in her 90s with underlying health conditions and a female in her 80s with underlying health conditions.
There are 54 COVID-19-related deaths in Washoe County. In addition, there are 27 new cases of COVID-19 with three recoveries.
- Total COVID-19 cases in Washoe County: 1,405 (+27 from 5/24)
- Deaths: 54 (+2)
- Recoveries: 792 (+3)
- Active cases: 559 (+22)
- Currently hospitalized: 60 (+1)
- Cases who have discharged from hospital: 121 (+1)

Were you selected? Deadline to participate in COVID-19 antibody study approaching
The Washoe County Health District is conducting a COVID-19 antibody study and the nearly 1,200 households that were randomly chosen are running out of time to participate.
The information to register and other instructions are in the letter that was delivered via mail.
The study, which aims to determine the percentage of people in Washoe County who had COVID-19, starts the second week of June. One adult is permitted to receive an antibody test and all remaining household members will get a COVID-19 test.
The results are expected to be published in late June or early July and is only for those who received the mail invitation.
Hospital bed and ventilator information
According to the Nevada Hospital Association, in Washoe County as of May 24, 2020:
- 66 percent of all staffed short-term, acute-care hospital beds are occupied (-2 since May 23)
- 45 percent of the all Intensive Care Unit beds are occupied (-5%)
- 12 percent of all ventilators are in use (-2%)
NOTE: Numbers are for all hospital patients in Washoe County and not just COVID-19 patients.
